Many people ask if it is possible to build muscle after 40. Yes, it is. Today’s story is the perfect example. Brad was ready to take his body to the next level and that’s exactly what he did on the verge of turning 50. Week after week, he worked hard and made the best choices possible. 20 weeks later, he is taller and slimmer, and he feels great.
Brad’s Stats
Starting weight -169 lbs, stomach 35″
Added 12 lbs thanks to swelling to 181 lbs
Finishing cut weight – 171.8, belly 33″
Brad’s story
For me, this was my second ride with Micah and Hitch Fit. Almost two years ago, I worked with Micah on a 12-week program that was a Lean learning program.
It worked! Fast forward to last spring and I contacted Micah. Since my last experience with Hitch Fit, I had continued to work out regularly, but in reality I wasn’t pushing myself as well as I could and I wasn’t as disciplined with my diet as I should have been . One of the reasons I’m a big fan of Hitch Fit is the accountability they offer. I needed it.
This time I asked Micah if we could work on an overall volume and then go through a lean process. I committed to a 20-week Get Big Get Ripped program. Going into the program, I was excited but also a little nervous that I wouldn’t be able to achieve the weight gain needed.
I have always been a big gainer in terms of height and weight. However, Micah said to trust him and trust the process and you will get there. After the first 12 weeks, I had gained about 12 pounds. Those 12 pounds was a “good” weight. Really pretty cool to see the changes happening.
After that we went into the lean phase for 8 weeks and I lost about 9 pounds. The results were really very good. I was proud of what I had been able to accomplish.
Throughout the process, it was clear that I was not perfect; sometimes running out of diet or workout intensity. I had to give myself grace and strive to get back on the horse and continue to work hard.
For me, it was a personal goal and I was able to achieve it. However, a side benefit is that it has been encouraging to see people throughout the process commenting on the changes. Many times people asked “what are you doing”, “I have to attend your program”, etc.
The first thing I would tell them is to be present and consistent. From there, I talk to them about Hitch Fit, what Micah and Diana do and how they do it. I can’t say enough positive things about them. They will meet you where you are at and go from there to help you become a better version of yourself.
I chose Hitch Fit the first time and came back to them the second time because they provided me with a plan, accountability, and encouragement. Having a solid plan developed by people with a proven track record and who know what they’re talking about gives you confidence that it will work if you stick to it. Granted, there were times when I didn’t like a particular workout or wondered if I was going to get results, but I kept going. In the end, I was happy with the final product. Not too bad for someone a few weeks shy of turning 50!
I really like you Micah!
