Strength and Fitness to Heal Trauma
“As we get older, we tend to think we become wiser. This was not the case for me. I found myself dealing with a divorce and maneuvering through life in a new way.
My children grew up and my identity began to change. I went through many challenges, including one that was unthinkable. I was attacked.
The damage this did to me mentally was devastating. I found myself having panic attacks and was no longer able to function. I was mentally frozen. I was a victim. I would never call myself a victim. I’m a fighter, but I was in a huge hole of depression and suicidal thoughts. What can I do to fight for myself? Training! I’ve always exercised, but in the past I did more cardio than heavy lifting. Lifting heavy weights helped me gain the strength I needed to start living life again.
Physical strength began to give me the mental strength I needed to begin healing from the trauma. I began my healing journey by seeking God on incredible adventures, including hiking the Grand Canyon and kayaking in Alaska. I began to survive and hear messages from God about how I would use my story for His glory.
The healing process is not a quick fix and takes time to repair the damage. During that time, I had gained about 20 pounds. This wasn’t where I wanted to be. I decided to attend my first SoulFIT Adventure retreat. During the trip, I met good friends and shared my journey. Certain visions were revealed to me. How can I continue to serve God if I do not fully care for the temple He has given me? I needed to be mentally and physically healthy. That’s when I contacted Diana to help me with a Hitch Fit online training plan. She aligned and inspired me to be the best version of myself.
The trip was fun. It was physical but also spiritual. God has worked in my life and placed the right people, like Micah and Diana, in my life. I decided to attend my second Soulfit retreat in Mexico. This retreat was focused on transformation. Micah and Diana created space to be inspired and moved by the Holy Spirit. This was a huge awakening for me and what God has for my future. I am very grateful to them and their obedience to God.
My health journey will continue and I will continue to transform physically and spiritually. “This is just a chapter of my life.”
