Everything is going well, we have to move in the very near future, so I have been looking for ideas for a bedroom makeover. When I asked friends on Feacebook for moving advice, someone suggested I use the time before moving to do a really good clean, then start from scratch in our new home.
So while we will keep some things from our current house, we will buy new furniture because it fits the space better and my first focus will be the master bedroom.
Plans for Our Master Bedroom Makeover
When it came to our master bedroom makeover, the most important thing for us was to take advantage of the opportunity to get a new, larger sized bed frame. For me, the bed will be the focal point of the room, so we opted for a Hoxton king size bed from Simba with an ottoman base, in midnight blue, to match an accent chair we already own and are keeping .
Once the move is complete, we will order a king size mattress from SIMBA for the bed as well as new bedding (as it is a different size) and pillows to give our sleeping space a new look and a touch of our personal style. The bed is quite dark in color, so I plan to use variations of white bedding with lots of accent colors.
If you would like to learn more about the process of choosing a Simba bed and the delivery/construction process, read my review of the Ludlow Ottoman bed.
Getting a good night’s sleep is something I take very seriously and having a good mattress, good pillows and a good bed is the basis for achieving this. If you’re looking for some helpful tips, check out my sleep content on the blog below.

Other bedroom furniture
The bedrooms in our new home currently have no closet space, so this is our first project to complete for the master bedroom. Of course I dream of a super organized dressing room in the small bedroom, but in reality it’s just a small space so it will more likely be a desk and/or a small nook to relax and read, write or to rest.
We’ll be looking for an affordable way to install built-in wardrobes in the master bedroom – IKEA PAX seems to be the most customizable option on the market.
As for the rest of the room, here’s what’s on the list to check/buy:
- bedside lamps
- wall art
- duvet cover (do you think without cover??)
- blinds/curtain panels
In addition to the bed, we will bring a large white chest of drawers for the bedroom space and a few storage boxes that we will use while we wait to sort the wardrobe.
Bedroom Makeover Design Inspiration
There’s no better place to get inspiration than Pinterest. Of course, our first choice would be to hire interior designers, but I guess there won’t be much money left after a big move, right?!
Pinterest is one of my favorite sites that can help you find and set a color scheme or palette, choose paint color for things like an accent wall, and is a great way to Buy all the little things like decorative pillows, photo frames, throw blankets, pendant lights or a trendy lamp.
I made the collage/main image for this post using some of the ideas I saved for bedroom makeovers on Pinterest. It’s the perfect way to realize your plans for the bedroom of your dreams!
Do you have any ideas or stylish ways to revamp your bedroom that you want to share?!
