Editorial:
The question of how clean “green” energy alternatives, such as wind turbines and solar panels, is is being challenged by deeper dives into the creation and life cycle of these so-called “green” energy alternatives.
We could explore these topics further. If that’s your taste, check out this podcast called Wright Report.
One example is the fact that wind turbines require fossil fuels to operate. They require oil for lubrication. An estimated 100 gallons, which is changed regularly, is required to keep these wind turbines running. Additional fossil fuels are used for manufacturing processes for necessary raw materials like carbon fiber, fiberglass, and various metals. Wind turbines are also famous for oil leaks that cause oil to flow around the base of the giant structures. There are even bigger problems with reported oil spills from wind turbines, like the one that apparently occurred in one of the most beautiful areas of our country, the Columbia River Gorge, along the southern border of Washington State and northern Oregon. As I drove through this area recently, the multitude of red lights flashing in unison along the previously untouched landscape reminded me of the thousands of wind turbines along this area.
The problem seems to be much deeper and the logic put forward seems confusing. Is “Clean, Green, Renewable” just a marketing ploy? Are we really being fed Dirty Green Energy bullshit? Something to think about.
