Teachers don’t have superpowers
A teacher’s words are the least meaningful part of a yoga class.
We can talk, you can hear our words, but the most valuable treasure you will find in the classroom is your ability to listen.
Individual experience and exploration are essential.
All of our experiences – everything we see, read, taste and feel – are deeply absorbed into our tissues, by our fabric. A teacher’s thoughts and suggestions are just that: they are whispers in the background, reflecting what they felt in their tissues, but the words are inadequate translations of physical sensations.
They often fail to explain or stimulate similar responses:
